saddness...

I dislike not doing my blog, but my cord is still not in (??),thus no photos, thus no blog. Vacation is coming soon too, so hopefully you won't all give up on me completely, and just check back in mid-August. By then, hopefully we should be back to some sort of normalcy. If the cord doesn't fix the problem, the camera will have to be sent out for repairs......sigh........remember when we had Instamatic's, flashcubes, and you took you film to the pharmacy?

You all take care.

Going the economical way first, and hopefully, the correct way,(hey, its a 50-50 shot) I ordered a new wire from my computer guy today. Hopefully the new cable will be here on Tuesday, and prayerfully this will take care of zee problem...

So, check back next week and we'll see where we are at....

"there's trouble along the cable........"

not sure if it is the wire or the receptacle,, but can't get camera to download.....too bad...took some really neat pics today...oh well, check back...we'll get this thing fixed yet!!!

this one, from last weeks quiz.....

Clark Hill Road, looking northwest.

Only to see this view, you have to take a pick-up truck, and stand up in the bed. The landowner put up a fence to block people from seeing the view.

What a beach night.....

I haven't been to our Sharon Town Beach in years. I wasn't there tonight either (to swim). But when I walked out of the store at five-thirty, it was on just such a night that years ago I would have been going to the beach for a good cooling swim. So I took a ride down Mudge Pond Road and took a peak to see how things looked from the road. There was about half-a-dozen cars in the lot, and an attendant checking cars at the gate. It looked just like it did thirty years. Some folks parked towards Jenkins in the shade, and some up to the fence in front. In all honesty, I felt tempted to go to Town Hall tomorrow for a pass for the rest of the summer. But I think that passed. But who knows, maybe I will......hmmmmmm.

First Reaction.....Wow!

Stage One (as I understand it) of the new playscape equipment at The Sharon Center School is installed. Stopped by this evening for a quick snap as I had a delivery to do before getting home for supper. Pretty nice. Funny thought occurred on the swings....when I was on the last building committee, we had to remove the swings then, due to insurance reasons. And now, they're back. Kind of just shows, what goes around, comes around maybe? Whatever, looks good committee members!

Where am I?

Hint: You're in Sharon.

First correct answer is the winner.

Winner gets a free bottle of cold water on a hot day from Rick's in Sharon.....

Summer Window

I don't think, to the best of my memory, (without going back and looking) that I have ever put my storefront on my blog. Numerous things happened today that I could have done a blog entry on, but I believe in privacy and that one needs to respect people's right to privacy. Therefore, I am not going to them, but instead am just going with my summer window at the store. My best friend of my whole life is in charge of window decorations, and I am so thankful to her for all that she does to keep our windows seasonally decorated, using fun items and store offerings. Need your store window decorated?

Hope everyone has a good weekend! Remember, it's five o'clock somewhere. Cheers!

A dear friend, Judy Albright, is having her first art show, and it started just the other day at the Sharon Town Hall. I would encourage all of my friends and neighbors to go check it out! Here is a sneak-peak!

Revisiting Saturday past

Saturday July 2nd was a pretty nice day around here weather-wise, and pretty-much I believe throughout New England. I got to sneak out for a few moments in the late morning from the store and go to a fair at Methodist Church and then for a bit of a car ride around town, just enjoying a few sights before returning to work.

I always enjoy a visit to the Methodist fundraising fairs. Even if I found nothing I could use or gift, I can always count on a good little sweet treat. :) This time around......a small plate of cookies with M & M's in them......(good cookies Wanda!)

And across the street, the King/Hart/ now Collins house was just begging me to take another picture of the colors and beauty it presents at this time of the year. Running my store is fun, but I must admit, I could have taken the rest of Saturday off from work and roamed around all day with my camera, but unfortunately that wasn't in the cards this time. Maybe next!!

More 4th of July, 2011

Nice start to the day. A delicious fruit salad, as part of breakfast, on the screened porch. Loving it!

Almost forgot about all the flags the Legion Post puts out to line Main Street up to Gay Street. Course I didn't go to town till 6:15 or so in the early evening.

My niece Molly came for the weekend from Staten Island and we had some fun this evening with a few fireworks. I always love Molly's comments, which just show what she appreciates and I just take for granted..... First one tonight was "look at all the fireflies. We probably have about two" and second, "you have soooo many stars......." It makes me really feel good when Molly comes to visit.

And to end this glorious 4th of July, 2011, I set off another fountain which proved to be quite noisy, quite sparkly, and a whole bunch of fun!

Salute!

Today there were numerous things going on, what with the holiday weekend and all, but there was something very special that won out for me as the biggest event of the weekend. Celebrating fifty years in business today and tomorrow are the Heacox Family, who own the Sharon Pharmacy. Unfortunately we lost Ed, the father and founder last year, but there to celebrate today were the four brothers, Ed, Joe, Dave and Chris and their families. Also along was their sister Karen and her husband. Kathy, Mrs. Heacox, wife and co-founder, has had some health matters a while back but is doing great now and is at home.

Fifty years is such an amazing feat! And in the same location, except for an expansion which occurred many years back now that pretty much doubled the original size of their store. I salute Ed and Kathy for their dream, bringing it to its reality, and for the family being able to maintain it all these years. Tremendous. Congratulations. Job well done and continued success to you!

For what it's worth, in my humble opinion, Dave is the most like his dad in looks and mannerisms. Today he wore a seer-sucker jacket, as his dad would have done. A really very nice celebration today was. It was great to see so many folks turn out and pay tribute to them as well. Keep up the great work guys! Hope to see you again in ten years!

You're kidding me, right?...............

Well, right in the heart of the day today, when the plaza was quite busy, the grocery store decided to play catch with a car....again. As I understand it, a couple fortunately were not injured as their vehicle crashed into the Sharon Farm Market. I was busy in my store, heard a friend yell, then immediately heard a large crash and felt the building shake. The car hit with such force that it hit the wall of the office inside and moved that platform almost seven inches! The fact no one was injured is amazing. So much for the outside posts retaining anything.
